The Water Marble Nail Art Technique

The history of water marble technique goes back to years before 1990s, when it was developed by professional nail artists in the Japanese salons. It wasn’t until the 1990s that this technique came to the knowledge of the general public. The popularization of this technique was carried out through commercial publications by shopping centers. In 2010, this nail art technique evolved to include methods of using different products such as the acrylics and gels. This technique gained popularity all over the globe through features in magazines, through websites, videos, and polish makers.

For creating marble nails designs, you can make use of two different styles – the free dropping or free dragging style. The free dropping style includes dropped lacquered colors into the water, either straight or diagonally. In the free dragging style, patterns are dragged with the help of a toothpick. The patterns may range from simple circular or complicated designs such as marble, flowers, etc. Now that you know the different styles of this technique, let us discuss how you can actually use this technique.

The Marble Nail Polish Technique

For creating the designs of marble, nail polish of whatever colors you choose has to be dropped into the water. There are a few tools that you would require to carry this out. What you will require is a container filled with bottled water, sticky tape, base coat, top coat, tooth picks, and a fast dry nail spray if you have one. Once you have selected the nail polish colors you want to use, you need to drop them into the water in a way that they create circular patterns. One by one you drop all the colors and then create a pattern of your choice with a toothpick.

You are to first apply a base coat on your nails and then a top coat, which should preferably be a matte color in order to give a great effect to your marble nail art. Before you dip your finger into the container, make sure to cover your finger and cuticles with the tape. You then dip the finger into the container at an angle of 45 degrees. While your finger is dipped, use a clean toothpick to pick up the unused nail varnish. Once you have done that, remove your finger from the container and either spray it with the fast dry nail spray or leave it to dry. You can then remove the tape from around your nail and clean up any nail polish from your finger using a nail polish remover.

Marble nails, because of its attractiveness and beautiful patterns that can be created, have become quite popular amongst women. Here are 40 creative water marble nail designs for you.
